30-Hour Classroom Drivers Education School

Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) requires 30 hours of classroom instruction to eventually obtain your driver’s license. Only students who have completed the full driver’s education program will be eligible to take the license test after holding their permit for a minimum of 120 days. These education programs include the following:
  • 8-Hour Drug and Alcohol Safety Course
  • 2-Hour Parent Class
  • 8-Hour Behind-The-Wheel Training Program
Our classroom schedule runs in two-hour increments for a total of 15 classes. If classes are missed during any given session, those missed classes can be “made-up” during the following session. There is no time limit to complete this program. If you have any questions, feel free to call us during regular business hours.
Points to keep in mind:
  • Anyone who has completed a commercial driver’s education program may be eligible for insurance discounts. Please check with your Independent Agent or Insurance Carrier for discount information and eligibility.
  • A learner’s permit is not required for classroom instruction, only behind-the-wheel instruction.

Behind-The-Wheel Training Program

The DMV requires eight hours of behind-the-wheel training, along with 30 hours of classroom instruction for eligibility to test 120 days from the learner’s permit issue date. Behind-the-wheel training runs in two-hour increments for a total of four two-hour driving lessons. These lessons are included as part of the Full Teen Driving Package or they can be purchased separately as individual lessons. If you only choose our 30-Hour Teen Classroom Package, the Behind-The-Wheel Training Program must be purchased separately.
*Teen Drivers must present their valid Connecticut Learner’s Permit to the instructor prior to starting a behind-the-wheel session
For safety reasons, we only offer pick-up/drop-off services at your teen drivers high school and at our main office located at 205 Atlantic Street, Stamford, CT 06901.
Due to the nature of our back-to-back scheduling system, there will be a delay in returning the student immediately following the lesson. The instructor picks up the next student scheduled and then drops off the previous. If we are delayed in getting to the point of pickup, the lost time will be made up either at the end of that same lesson, or at a later date.
If you are going to be delayed, please try to notify us in a timely manner so that we can adjust our schedule. If you are going to be delayed by more than 15 minutes, a $35 charge will be incurred to complete the lesson that day if it is possible to do so.
A 24-hour notice of cancellation is required for behind-the-wheel training. If you fail to give DEC timely notice of cancellation, fail to show up for a scheduled behind-the-wheel lesson or forget your learner’s permit, a $35.00 charge will be incurred to reschedule the appointment.

REVIEWS
  • I learned to drive with Shaun last year, and passed first time! Shaun was super knowledgeable, supportive, and really great at keeping me focused (as I was a very nervous student!) when I would get flustered. Overall a great experience and I'd recommend Shaun to anyone who is nervous about starting driving!
